About the Artist
An artist and photographer, Chris narrate his stories by exploring the numerous genres within photography, in order to find the most optimum approach to convey his stories. He has exhibited globally and his works are collected by museums and private collectors worldwide. He famously curated a group photographic exhibition in Singapore titled “Incessantly Creative”, where works curated ranged from upcoming and young artists, to the established practitioners in the creative sector. The exhibition challenged the idea of perceiving a photograph beyond its title, and considering the incessantly creative process undertaken by each photographer.
Chris Yap
An artist and photographer, Chris narrate his stories by exploring the numerous genres within photography, in order to find the most optimum approach to convey his stories. He has exhibited globally and his works are collected by museums and private collectors worldwide. He famously curated a group photographic exhibition in Singapore titled “Incessantly Creative”, where works curated ranged from upcoming and young artists, to the established practitioners in the creative sector. The exhibition challenged the idea of perceiving a photograph beyond its title, and considering the incessantly creative process undertaken by each photographer.
As an educator, he has taught photography in institutions all over Asia-Pacific. His commercial works are showcased in a wide range of genres: fine-art photography, renowned theatrical performances and fashion magazines. He has also been on judging panels for photography contests in Japan and Singapore. His journey of exploration examines how any image is built and the meaning of the experiences each image induces. Widely diverse in his artistic practice, his works are evocative, yet subtle. He persistently pushes the boundaries of photography, so as to expand the infinite potential of this medium, and advance new perspectives into photography’s relationship with other art forms.
